Why I Switched To Liquid Blush
And Why I’ll Never Go Back!
I used to never wear blush, I was a bronzer girl through and through. This summer that changed drastically once liquid and cream blush blew up on the market. I’ll be honest, I get sucked into tik tok makeup trends easily, but this one is 100% worth it. Liquid and cream blushes definitely have a learning curve to them when it comes to application (don’t worry, i’ll give you some tips to help) but once you figure it out, you’ll never want to go back. They also may seem intimidating to some who prefer a matte makeup base, like me, but trust me on this and give it a try!
Why I’m Obsessed
It’s all about the dewy-glow
Liquid blush doesn’t just give you colour, it also makes you look like you are GLOWING. Not just in that highlighter glow way, but in that healthy skin way, which, isn’t that what we all strive for in our makeup looks? It gives structure to the cheeks which I’ve never seen before on my face. Of course powdered blush brings colour to the apples of the cheeks and gives it shape as well, but since it’s usually matte, it’s more one dimensional even with a shimmer blush.
With the way it provides dimension, it can also work as a contour and highlight for the cheeks. Don’t get me wrong, I still add the whole contour and highlight routine, it completes the look, but if you are going for the “no makeup look” aesthetic, it’s the perfect product for sculpted cheeks natural looking cheeks.
The Breakdown
Buildable and blendable
Dew I Make You Blush? provides a shade range that is flattering to a variety of skin tones. With cream-gel like consistency that can be applied lightly for a wash of colour. But it can also be built up to create a more bold and stunning effect. The pigment saturation is sublime, two or three dabs of rouge on your cheeks will go a long way!
My personal favourite colour is the shade “Cake” which is a gorgeous dusty rose. It compliments my neutral undertone gives me an effortlessly flushed look that is natural looking. If you are into bright Barbie-pink, then the shade “Macaron” is the right pop of electrifying pink your cheeks need.
Not only is it easy to apply and work with, it’s also foolproof. If you find you that you’ve added a touch too much rouge and need to correct your oopsie, it’s an easy pivot to fix. Before applying setting powder to your face, use a clean brush or makeup sponge and to gently diffuse the blush by using sweeping or dabbing motion towards your temples.
How To Apply Like A Pro
Now, I did promise to give you some helpful tips on the best way to apply these dreamy-dewy shades;
- You will need either a damp sponge or a dense brush to blend. I like to apply all my base makeup first-primer, foundation,etc.
- Next take the liquid blush and apply it to the back of your hand first.
- Take your tool of choice and pick the product up. This controls the amount you will apply to your face and makes it a lot easier to blend.
- Then apply the blush to wherever you prefer to add a healthy flush of colour.
